Harry Potter HBO series trailers

Two trailers so far. Here is what each one shows, what they tell us about the series and where to watch them.

The teaser trailer (25 March 2026)

The first teaser gave fans their first real look at the new cast in action, including Dominic McLaughlin as Harry, Arabella Stanton as Hermione and Alastair Stout as Ron. It was short and atmospheric, leaning on mood more than story.

It was a huge success. HBO said it became the most-watched trailer in HBO and HBO Max history, with 277 million views in its first 48 hours.

The second trailer (2 September 2026)

The second trailer was longer and showed much more of the story. The big moments fans picked out:

  • The Sorting ceremony in the Great Hall, the scene this whole site is built around.
  • Quidditch, with Harry on a broomstick for the first time.
  • Snape, with Paapa Essiedu's first proper scenes as the Potions master.
  • Dumbledore, with more of John Lithgow than the teaser showed.

What the trailers tell us

Both trailers suggest a series that takes its time. The Sorting ceremony, Quidditch and classroom scenes appear to get room to breathe, which fits the promise of a more faithful adaptation, with eight episodes for one book rather than one film.

They also show a look that's clearly its own. The castle, costumes and wands are recognisable without copying the films shot for shot.

Behind the scenes: Finding Harry

On 5 April 2026, HBO released Finding Harry: The Craft Behind the Magic, a behind-the-scenes special narrated by Nick Frost. It covers how the young cast were found and how the sets and creatures were built, including animatronic owls.

Where to watch the trailers
